How to write your name in Japanese: "Kana transcrition"

There are different ways to write names in Japanese, as we have 3 different Japanese scripts called:

Kanji
Hiragana
Katakana

So, how do we decide which script to use for writing names?
Well, although we usually use Kanji script to write names, some Japanese people have thier names written in Hiragana and Katakana.

Now, I am sure that those people who are reading my blog want to know how to write English names in Japanese. Ok, then, let me tell one of the way to write names in Japanese, called:

========================
Kana transcrition
========================
Kana transcrition is the most standard way of writing English names in Japanese.
With this method, we normally use the Katakana script to write English names in Japanese. Like Hiragana scripts, Katakana scripts are the set of sounds and called "Phonetic Alphabetic" which has got 46 basic Katakana symbols.

For example, the left hand side of the picture is one of our customer`s Japanese Katakana name symbols tattooed on his arm. To write his name, we have picked 3 Katakana symbols, and each of them have got its own sound.
Because his name is Mick, we had to use the Katakana symbol which sounds Mi Tsu Ku in Japanese.
So, when translating names into Japanese, we just pick the sound of the character which can be rendered into English names.

Now, for those of you who are interested in getting your English names in Japanese Katakana script, check out the following translation site which will help you understand which Katakana chracter goes into selecting a name, and our translator will pick the most appropriate characters for you.
