Japanese New Year Food - Japanese Symbols of "Happy New Year"

Happy New Year!!

This is Takanori Tomita from Japan, and having a great time in Japan.
By the way, did you know that we have a special food for the New Year in Japan?
Unlike the Western culture, all Japanese people eat almost the same thing
that is the traditional Japanese New Year Food for the 1st of January.

Let me explain this....

The traditional Japanese New Year Food is called Osechi Ryouri.

Osechi Ryouri is the collection of traditional Japanese foods such as
herring roe, boiling prawns, black soybean, and so on.
The reason why we eat this special food is get the power from the food,
which is a traditonal way of Japanese thinking - Japanese cultural thinking.

We also have Rice cakes in a soup.
This is called Ozouni.
In Tokyo, the soup is based on the soy sauce, but some other areas use Miso for
this soup as well. So, each state has got the different taste, although we eat
the same style of the Ozouni.

Well, I hope that you will have a great time for the New Year.
Kinga Shin Nen - Happy New Year!!!
